Am I too old for a teepee bed??

I've been scouring Craigslist for an affordable canopy bed that isn't too little girlish and not too old ladyish. I'm enamoured by the thought of being snuggled in bed surrounded by fabric shutting the outside world out.
Y'all know I love to sleep!

But then I saw this photo in one of the blogs I troll:

And I thought, What about a teepee bed???
How awesome would that be?
Not awesome? Really? I kinda want it....

I guess wearing a hat and scarf makes me an old lady

So it felt really cold in my apartment this morning when I got up so I put on extra layers including a hat and scarf to walk Molly. Turns out, it wasn't really that cold out. I saw an old lady I've scene a few times now that has an adorable grayed old stradforshire terrier that has a little pink tongue always hanging out. As she passed me she says "I'm glad you're wearing a hat and scarf too" with a smile. Then she points over to a couple of other dog walkers she's friendly with and adds "They were telling me I looked like a little old lady in this hat and scarf."

Um....

Stinky Molly

Molly decided to roll around in something very dead and very fishy. Of course she did this after the dog washing places were closed so we had to wait until the next morning to get a bath. I shampoo'd her twice.

Then I fabreezed the heck out of the sofa and living room. Only the pillow she slept on still smells =(

So Many Projects

So little time.

This is what I'm starting with. It's worse than it looks.

Project 1. Bathroom shelf

Project 2. Elfa Shelves. Actually two projects. One for the living room and one for the office.

Project 3. The Kitchen Cart. The dreaded kitchen cart.

The Hood

Thought I would throw up the photos I took on my iphone from Molly and I's walks around Sail Bay.

This is why I moved to Pacific Beach (in case you were wondering):

Some of the newness has worn off. The walls are so thin in my apartment that I can hear EVERYTHING my neighbors above me and next door are doing including conversations, making coffee, getting dressed, ect. It's not too bad now because it's the winter and I keep my windows mostly closed but in the summer - with no a/c...well I just don't know how bad it will be.

Found the library which I can walk to and love it! My one complaint with the PB library is the movie section. They have VHS tapes mixed in with the dvd's. I'll get excited when I see a title of a movie I want to watch, then it'll be like "Psych!! VHS only!" I think it's time to retire the VHS tapes from even the free public library.

I like my new hood. I'll like my new apartment too once I get unpacked and settled. I'm just still feeling it out.

6 weeks later- still not unpacked

Oy Vey! Six weeks later, still not unpacked from my move. I blame it on the following reasons:

1. I don't know where to put my crap
2. I don't know how to use a drill or how to put together the shelves that I have sitting on the floor right now
3. I need to purge more stuff.
4. I don't have the right sized containers. None of my former space saving/organizing/basket stuff fits in my new cabinets
5. I am essentially indecisive to my core and kinda lazy/time management challenged

But I have friends visiting next month so there's the fire I needed lit under my rear. I ordered this convertible sofa.

It's red. Obviously.
I have no idea how I am going to get it home. The box weights 150 pounds. And then I have to asssemble it.

Assembling furniture is the bane of my single existence.
But it got good reviews. I'm hoping it'll be comfortable for my friends so that they will want to come visit me.

(I haven't told them that you can hear every little thing going on next door at my neighbors from the guest room yet. They may cut their visit short when they do figure it out)

Hello 2010 =)

It's been a while since I've blogged but I'm starting to feel creative again and I've decided to bring it back! Plus, lately I've become a addicted to other people's blogs, particularly these two:

myfavoriteandmybest.blogspot.com and
beachvintage.blogspot.com

Then I started realizing that I'm kinda a peeker. I love looking at people's apartments and houses on these design blogs. My biggest excuse is that I'm still looking for ideas for my unpacked, undecorated apartment but really.... I just like looking at other people's photos. Sorry, I know it's creepy!

Two Weird Conversations I had Last Night

1. Phone Call from Derrick.
About 5:15 pm. I'm leaving work when I get a call from a number I don't recognize. On a whim I pick it up thinking it may be a reminder for a dentist appointment.
Me: Hello
Caller: Hello.
Me: Hello?
Caller: Hello.
Me: Who is this?
Caller: It's Derrick.
Me: *Confused*
Derrick: I wanted to call and apologize for my behavior.
Me: Um, okay. It's really fine.
Derrick: I wanted to apologize. I wasn't raised that way.
Me: *Confused* Oh, okay but it's really fine.I know I was kinda harsh but... (I don't apologize here because I am not sorry)
Derrick. Well I am sorry.
Me: Okay (about to tell him I was driving and had to get off the phone)
Derrick: Take care yourself
Me: You too!!! (elated I was getting off the phone with him)

So basically if I had asked him to leave me alone like I had wanted to, he would have called and asked why I wanted to him to leave me alone, and then later called to apologize. Same outcome.

2. Conversation with Homeless Person
About 10:30 last night I'm walking molly. Molly runs up to homeless man and licks his hands.
Homeless Man: She's licking me. You know why she's licking me?
Me: [Thinking to myself, because you stink and she likes stinky things] No why?
HM: Because she smells my dogs. I breed pitbulls and rottweilers
Me: Oh really? Molly is part pit
HM: I breed them to kill
Me: [Backing away] Oh
HM: [Laughing] Oh yeah she wants to jump all over me.
Me: Molly come!!
HM: I want a woman to jump all over me like that. YEAH!!
Me: [Turns on heels, walks in opposite direction thinking "good luck with that"]

PSA: How to Use a Rowing Machine

I am so tired of seeing this at the gym.

Yesterday I watched 5 people get on the ergometer (rowing machine) and do it completely ass backwards. I rowed in college. The "erg" is a torturous device if you do it correctly. I will never get one one again but for the love of God if you are, do it right! You will get a kick ass full body workout if you do it correctly.

It goes like this: legs, back, THEN arms. If you are lifting your arms up and over your knees. You are doing it WRONG. Most of your strength and power when rowing comes from the legs. So you push off with your legs, keep your upper half forward until you've extended your legs, then you throw your upper body back, keeping your arms straight. After your upper body is in a 45 degree, THEN bring pull your arms in to your body. Then the same sequence in reverse. arms, back, legs to the starting position. Your arms should move in a horizontal line throughout the exercise and never move up and down.

If you have your palms facing up on the bar, just stop, get off, and let someone else use the machine.

That is all.
